FLUID FILM VS CAVITY WAX
WHICH RUSTPROOFING is RIGHT FOR YOU?
-
Rustproofing is the process of applying a specialized protective product inside your vehicle’s enclosed body cavities—like rocker panels, doors, tailgates, hood seams, and frame channels—to stop rust from forming where moisture and salt get trapped. It’s a non-drying, creeping product that works its way into welds and seams, sealing out corrosion where it starts.
-
Because rust often begins in the places you can't see. While undercoating protects the underside of your vehicle from external wear and salt spray, rustproofing shields the interior cavities where water, salt, and condensation can quietly cause long-term damage. Even brand-new vehicles are vulnerable—factory coatings don't cover these internal areas. Rustproofing helps extend your vehicle’s life, preserves its structural integrity, and protects your investment from the inside out.
Fluid Film (Lanolin)
-
Fluid Film is a lanolin-based rust inhibitor and lubricant used to protect metal surfaces from corrosion. In rustproofing, it’s commonly applied inside enclosed vehicle cavities—like doors, rocker panels, tailgates, and fenders—where it penetrates seams, displaces moisture, and prevents rust from forming. Unlike traditional coatings, it stays soft and tacky, allowing it to self-heal and continue protecting over time.
-
No—Fluid Film does not dry. It remains soft, tacky, and self-healing. This allows it to continue creeping into seams and displacing moisture over time. While this is great for ongoing rust protection, it also means it needs to be reapplied annually for consistent performance.
-
Fluid Film prevents rust by creating a moisture-repelling barrier on metal surfaces. It penetrates into seams and crevices, pushing out water and oxygen—two key elements needed for rust to form. Its lanolin base penetrates into metal, blocking air and salt from reaching the surface. Because it stays soft and tacky, it continues to move and protect over time.
-
Yes—Fluid Film can help slow down and STOP existing rust by sealing out moisture and oxygen, which are essential for rust to continue spreading. While it won’t reverse corrosion or remove rust, it will coat the rusted surface, preventing further oxidation and degradation. It’s especially effective for stabilizing surface rust in enclosed areas like rocker panels, doors, and tailgates.
-
Fluid Film doesn’t chemically soak into metal like a paint might—it penetrates by creeping into surface pores, seams, and overlaps. Its lanolin-based formula has excellent “creep” properties, allowing it to flow into tight spaces, cracks, and around fasteners. Once there, it bonds to the metal surface, pushing out moisture and sealing it from air and salt, which prevents rust from forming or advancing.
-
When applied inside enclosed areas like door panels, rocker panels, or tailgates, Fluid Film can last up to 24 months or more, depending on conditions. These areas are shielded from direct road spray, UV exposure, and abrasion, allowing the product to cling longer. However, for consistent protection, an annual inspection and potential reapplication is still recommended—especially in vehicles exposed to heavy salt or moisture.
-
A little, yes—especially right after application. Fluid Film stays wet and can drip from weep holes or panel seams for the first few days, particularly if the vehicle is exposed to heat. However, inside enclosed cavities, proper application using a fogging wand minimizes excess and keeps dripping to a minimum. Any light dripping usually stops once the product settles. Parking on a cardboard sheet or in a garage for a day or two after application is a good precaution.

We offer both straw and black. Straw is recommended for all vehicles unless you have gray or black paint.
cavity wax
creep ‘n crawl by woolwax
-
Creep N’ Crawl is a next-generation undercarriage and cavity wax designed to protect enclosed areas of vehicles from rust and corrosion. Made with 100% solids and no solvents, it flows into tight spaces before curing into a tough, flexible wax film.
-
Unlike traditional coatings that use solvents or fillers, Creep N' Crawl is made entirely of active rust-inhibiting materials. It provides superior penetration, bonding, and long-term protection—even in hard-to-reach areas.
-
Its proprietary slow-cure technology allows the product to naturally creep into welds, seams, and hidden areas before setting, ensuring every surface is sealed against moisture and salt.
-
It dries to the touch in 72 hours and fully cures in 168 hours (1 week), forming a long-lasting, flexible, water-repelling wax barrier.
-
One coat inside enclosed cavities can provide corrosion protection for the lifetime of the vehicle—no reapplication needed.
